IT ACCESS GLOSSARY OF TERMS

 

Network Access (NAR) – Active directory account permits users to:

    • log on to AHS computers
  • access Insite (AHS Intranet), "Find People" internal Directory and Organizational Chart
  • Launch access to AHS shared drives or some AHS Systems - Not required for Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM) or Alberta Netcare Portal.  Access to the drive/ system itself must be provisioned separately.

 

AHS email addresses permit users to:

  • access the MS Outlook Global Address List
  • use AHS encrypted email for communicating with another AHS email address
  • use AHS secure file transfer protocol (sftp) for sending large files securely within and beyond AHS.
  • Use AHS Outlook web access

 

Remote User Network Access (RUNA) – Remote access via hard (fob) or soft token (Smart Phone App) to:

  • access AHS systems (with some exceptions) or shared drives that you already have access to from within an AHS facility.
  • Access Alberta Netcare Portal (ANP) from the ANP Splash Page 

 
Access to an AHS Shared Drive – access to a shared document storage space within the AHS Network:

  • Access to some or all folders within a shared storage space depending on the permissions specified by the Drive Owner
  • The shared Driver owner must be an AHS employee 

 

Creation of Shared Drives for Research - a shared document storage space within the AHS Network.

  • Owner must be an AHS employee who is willing to approve access requests for access to all or part of the drive once it is created.

 

Direct Access to Alberta Netcare Portal – Clinical 5 Access profile permits users to:

  • Search for Patients accessing publicly funded health services in Alberta by entering PHN/ULI or MRN (Patient List feature Not Available)
    • View/Print Patient Demographics
    • View/Print the Medication Profile
    • View/Print /print clinical documents
    • View/Print patient event history
    • View/Print immunization history
    • View/Print laboratory results
    • View/Print transcribed reports
    • View/Print diagnostic images and associated reports
    • View/Print Pharmacy Information Network (PIN) data [must select ANP with PIN View]
    • Access must be renewed annually – as prompted by AHS Research Administration.

 

Direct Access to AHS owned/operated Systems:

  • Not permitted unless data for research cannot be provided by data extract
  • Patient consent to directly access electronic health information preferred
  • Provision of Research access to users who already have access for treatment and care purposes preferred
  • Will require completion of a user agreement, +/- a research agreement, AHS privacy training and system training. AHS Research Administration will assist with completion of these components.
  • Access will remain in force for each project as long as the study has continuous ethics approval.
  • If direct access cannot be provisioned, AHS Research Administration will assist with data extraction.
